SUBMAR inc.
was founded in 1991 as an off-shore and underwater construction company. It is an upgrade of its founder's activities undertaken during the 1968-1990 period in the form of a small private venture. (No privately owned companies were allowed in Yugoslavia until 1990). The company is based in Mali Lošinj on the Island of Lošinj, which is situated in the Kvarner Bay, in the north-east Adriatic Sea.
SUBMAR's
main activities are off-shore and underwater installation works, underwater construction works, as well as initial pre-draft diving research for marine projects.
SUBMAR's
team includes divers of various specialties and trades trained for deep-sea diving, the crew of the company's motorized pontoon crane and motor slip, and construction site managers.

in commercial diving since 1968 (since 1991 as a regular company
with the introduction of a free market economy to Croatia).
Submar's list of references includes, among other, a series of:
- underwater construction and laying of fresh-water pipelines and waste-water disposals, (including water-sampling and biochemical testing before and after installation);
- underwater laying and repairing of electrical, optical and other telecommunications cables and oil pipe-lines;
- retrieval or cuttings of sunken, stranded, or otherwise damaged ships.
THE OWNER:

Submar's founder, business and financial manager,
Vladimir Balenović, has a college degree in chemistry, but has spent his entire professional life as a diver and a contractor in the commercial diving industry. He started diving professionally in 1965. Before that he was a top-grade free-diver and spear-fisherman. A long time member of the Yugoslav National Team he holds several Championship titles from Yugoslavia and Europe in spear-fishing. He is fluent in four languages: English, Italian, German and French. |
